Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before we meet.

We've never had professional photos taken before and are awkward in front of the camera.

Great, you'll fit right in. Most of our clients tell us they've never had professional photos taken or that they deeply loathe being in front of the camera. We'll gently guide you throughout the session, so you never have to wonder what to do. Before long, most of our clients report having fun.

I don't know which package is right for me.

That's exactly what we're here for. Tell us what you're envisioning, and we'll recommend the session that best fits your goals. We'll consider things like how much time you'll need to feel comfortable in front of the camera, the size of the location and how much exploring it involves, how much variety you'd like in your gallery, and, if you're bringing children, their ages and personalities. Our goal is to recommend the package that gives you enough time to relax and enjoy the experience, never one that's longer than you need or shorter than you'll wish you had.

I don't know where I want my photos taken.

Absolutely, one of our favorite parts of the planning process is helping you find the perfect location. Our founder was born and raised in the Bay Area and has spent years photographing its coastlines, forests, mountains, and small towns. Whether you're dreaming of dramatic ocean views, towering redwoods, rolling hills, or somewhere that holds special meaning, we'll recommend locations that fit your vision, your outfits, and the overall feel you're hoping to create. We'll even send full galleries from locations you're considering so you can choose with confidence.

How many photos will we receive?

Every session is unique, so the final gallery size varies depending on the length of your session and what naturally unfolds. As a general guide, portrait sessions typically receive 60–200+ professionally edited images, while weddings receive hundreds to thousands of carefully curated photographs that tell the complete story of your day. We never charge extra for additional images as we believe your memories shouldn't be limited by an arbitrary number. If a photograph meets our professional standards and helps tell your story, you'll receive it.

When will we receive our photos?

Portrait sessions are delivered within 7–10 business days, and weddings are delivered within 4–6 weeks. Every image is individually edited with care to ensure your gallery feels cohesive, timeless, and true to your story.

Can we bring our dog?

Please do. Pets are family, and we love including them whenever possible. We simply recommend bringing a friend or family member who can take over after a few photos so you can relax and enjoy the rest of your session.

Do you travel?

Yes! We photograph throughout Santa Cruz, Monterey, Carmel, Big Sur, San Jose, San Francisco, and the greater Bay Area, and we're always happy to travel for destinations beyond. Most locations within our regular service area do not incur a travel fee.

Do you edit every photo?

Yes. Every image you receive is professionally edited for color, lighting, composition, and overall consistency. If you'd like additional retouching, such as removing distractions or making more detailed edits, we're happy to offer that as an optional add-on service.

How do we book?

Simply submit an inquiry through our contact form or give us a call, we love those. We'll confirm availability, answer any questions, and guide you through the next steps. Your date is officially reserved once your contract is signed and your retainer has been received.

What if the weather is bad?

Weather is one of the few things we can't control, but we do everything we can to make it stress-free. If the forecast doesn't suit the vision for your session, we'll work with you to reschedule. Your session fee will be applied as a credit that can be used whenever you're ready to rebook. While we don't photograph in heavy rain, we're always happy to embrace a light drizzle if you love the atmosphere it creates. Our team closely monitors the forecast in the days leading up to your session and will reach out if we believe rescheduling is the best option. Our goal is to save you from getting ready, traveling to your location, and investing your time into a day that won't result in the beautiful photographs you deserve.
